To be honest, I always thought it was silly to kill off Duke (assuming that's what they did). Recast him, if you have issues with Tatum, but don't kill him off.

Re: G.I.Joe 2 Coming
True, but Tatum is like the female Jessica Chastain this year. He's in everything, so this last minute delay is to get him in there with more screen time and/or not kill him after all. In addition to what was already being said about big blockbuster films bombing.
It's actually shame that this will be the start of some lame reworking of films in the months to come. I remember when the studios would barrage the movie going public with tons of flicks in the summer, damned if they failed or not. There used to be big films opening every week and now there aren't that many anymore.

With the news of GI Joe Retaliation being pushed back to March 29 2013 followed up by Hasbro issuing a statement about the majority of the toyline being pushed back as well, comes more unsettling news. According to Variety.com, retailers are being asked to send the GI Joe Retaliation toys back to Hasbro:
"With Paramount moving the actioner from June 29 to March 29, 2013, to give it more muscle at the box office with 3D, retailers are being asked to send back the line of Hasbro toys that were starting to appear on shelves.
Some Walmart, Toys R Us and Target locations had started to stock the toys this week, although they weren't supposed to make them available until next week. Those that did wanted to get a jump on demand, and some of the 47 items that would've been sold are expected to show up on eBay at inflated prices by the end of the weekend."
Here's more on retailer woes:
"Still, the movie's delay is creating a headache for retailers. Because of the new line of movie-related toys, stores started to clear shelf space of existing "G.I. Joe" toys by discounting a 30th anniversary line and animated offshoot "Renegades."
Store managers contacted by Variety said that the space that was allotted for "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" will now go to "The Amazing Spider-Man" toys and "The Avengers," which is still doing brisk business -- for Hasbro.
Mangers upset by the film's nine-month delay said they weren't sure if they would order the same amount of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" toys come March, because the summer movie season typically means bigger toy business for retailers. Hasbro isn't worried about the loss of revenue from "G.I. Joe" toy sales."
Interestingly enough, check out how Variety ended their article:
"Yet as it tries to keep retailers happy, Hasbro now has another problem to deal with: "G.I. Joe's" more hardcore fans, with a G.I. Joe Convention set to take place in New Orleans June 28-July 1 -- the same weekend the movie was set to open."

Re: G.I.Joe 2 Coming
So how the fuck is this supposed to net them more money come March? What spreadsheet possibly accounted for all of this and put them in the black?
And to put it in other terms, babies born when G.I. Joe was supposed to come out will be able to see it when it actually comes out.

That makes sense. So they ended up screwing over all their additional merchandising partners as well (clothes, backpacks, possible 7-11/fast food places) , which probably won't bode well for future deals, or at least I'm guessing it would require additional wording on their contracts about release dates.

I found the toys over the weekend. Picked up a few Rock items. The figures have no bio cards, but have two little write ups about Roadblock. It says hes an Ultimate Ninja Commando. When did that happen?
I hope one good thing comes from the push back. They repackage the toys and have better looking packaging. Its ugly and the main picture of The Rock they are using on all merchandise looks like his digital retarded brother.

Here are the profile backs on the movie action figures. So it seems:
1. Roadblock developed Battle-kata, hopefully it will be something new or similar to Equilibrium's gun-kata
2. Cobra Commander is definitely named Rex Lewis
3. Storm Shadow is suspected of killing Hard Master (it's probably Zartan then who kills Hard Master).

Saw the toys in Target today, but didn't pick any up. BTW Rock said in an interview that Roadblock is not in Snake Eyes clan, nor does he have the arashikage tattoo. Guess its just something they did for the toys.

I feel compelled to voice, yet again, my utter disappointment in this decision and that I feel this is a terrible, terrible idea. Just awful.
It's my first-world problem of the week.

Re: G.I.Joe 2 Coming
Supposed "real" reason for the delay:
http://www.deadline.com/2012/05/big-...-2s-big-delay/
There is a possible movie spoiler in the article ... or maybe not because if the article is true it will all be changed.

Re: G.I.Joe 2 Coming
How exactly are they going to add in more Channing Tatum without rewriting and refilming the entire film? what a clusterfuck. The funny thing is by the time this actually comes out, Tatum's career will probably be back in the shitter.

Maybe his scenes will be flashbacks, showing their friendship. And then at the end he can wake up out of a coma.

Re: G.I.Joe 2 Coming
I recall reading somewhere that Tatum was originally against doing the 1st movie because he's opposed to the military/war aspects of it.
He only changed his mind when the Producers told him it was more of a superhero action movie.
